Beyond Black becomes Extantia Capital - and brings in a new partner from the World Economic Forum

The Berlin Climate-Tech VC is undergoing a rebranding. Laura-Marie Töpfer, previously responsible for the Uplink platform at the World Economic Forum, is a new addition.

The VC Beyond Black has a new name. From now on, the venture capitalist specializing in climate tech start-ups will be called Extantia Capital. At the same time, Extantia presents a new addition.

Laura-Marie Töpfer is now a partner at the Berlin-based company. Töpfer was previously active at the World Economic Forum. There she built up the Uplink platform, which aims to bring together start-ups and decision-makers from the climate protection sector. "Technologies for significant CO2 reduction that also meet market requirements with scalable business models are the key to effective climate protection. That is my conviction and also that of Extantia Capital," explained Töpfer.

"Laura-Marie Töpfer is the perfect addition to our partner team," says Sebastian Heitmann, founder of Extantia Capital. "With her international experience at the intersection of venture capital and sustainability policy, as well as her scientific background in the field of environmental and social impact of investments, we want to open up new markets."

Extantia invests globally in start-ups that aim to support the decarbonization of the economy. To date, the venture capitalist has invested in the geothermal energy start-up GA Drilling, the chemical company Bloom and the battery recycling company Betteries, among others.
