CO2 reduction on a large scale: Senken and Exomad Green finalize the largest Biochar Carbon Removal Deal to date, aiming for a sustainable future.

Berlin - March 27, 2024 - Senken and Exomad Green announce a partnership to provide 81,600 tons of Biochar Carbon Removal Credits. This agreement, referred to as an Offtake Agreement, spans the years 2025 to 2028 and is the largest Biochar Carbon Removal Deal worldwide, according to the company.

A step towards CO2 reduction

The cooperation between Senken and Exomad Green aims to promote CO2 reduction and contribute to a more sustainable future. Biochar, produced through the thermal decomposition of organic material, offers a promising way to sequester carbon in the long term and support the climate.

This pioneering partnership with Exomad Green underlines our commitment to innovative carbon dioxide removal technologies.

Adrian Wons, CEO of Senken

Senken helps companies neutralize their unavoidable CO2 emissions. With a data-driven due diligence process and a comprehensive guarantee, Senken enables the long-term management of emissions in line with the goal of net zero emissions.

It not only improves soil health and agricultural productivity, but also has the potential to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels. Exomad Green, based in Concepción, Bolivia, demonstrates the multiple benefits of Biochar on the ground. By reducing health and fire risks and improving agricultural practices in indigenous communities, the project contributes to sustainable development.

Strict standards and traceability

Every batch of Biochar from the Green Concepción plant is closely tracked to make CO2 removal transparent. The project follows the strict regulations of the Puro standard, a leading standard for CO2 removal. Through this initiative, Senken and Exomad Green want to contribute to achieving climate targets without exaggerating or making unrealistic promises.
