Christ cooperates with Hamburg-based blockchain start-up

The jeweler now offers the option of storing a message on a blockchain with its jewelry. Christ is working with a Hamburg start-up to do this.
Jeweler Christ is cooperating with the start-up Foreverontheblockchain - and the name reveals the business concept:. The Hamburg-based company immortalizes messages in a blockchain that is linked to the purchase of jewelry at Christ. A message can also be recorded with the wedding rings. The entry can be saved on the blockchain in 340 characters "for eternity" or as an "infinite moment" with 6,000 characters.
The start-up was founded by Sven Hildebrandt, who was inspired by the love locks that now hang on bridges and railings in every German city. Christ CEO and Hildebrandt came together through mutual contacts and entered into a partnership. After the idea was born, it took a year to implement it. Then the staff in the jeweler's stores had to be trained to be able to explain the blockchain message offer, as Hildebrandt told the Wirtschaftswoche explained.
The advantage of the blockchain message: it is virtually impossible to delete, so it really is a message "for eternity". The start-up compensates for the highly resource-intensive technology by planting one tree per message. The offer is currently only available in stores.
Christ has existed since 1863 and belonged to Douglas since 1995, which sold the jewelry chain to the financial investor 3i in 2014.
