Munich - Munich-based early-stage investment firm yabeo has launched a new investment platform called "Emerging Tech Fund" that focuses on forward-looking topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity and cloud computing. The fund plans to offer pre-seed and seed funding of up to €500,000 per startup and has a target size of €50 million. New to the team is Heinrich Zetlmayer, an experienced blockchain investor and former co-CEO of esports platform ESL.
Emerging tech themes are expected to drive leaps in productivity and innovation across industries. With the Closed End Emerging Tech Fund, we are thus now offering additional investment opportunities.
Gerrit Seidel, General Partner and Managing Director of yabeo
The "Emerging Tech Fund" differs from yabeo's previous funds as it is structured as a Closed End Fund (CEF) for the first time. This step enables yabeo to offer a broader range of investment products tailored to the needs of family offices and institutional investors in the alternative assets sector.
With Heinrich Zetlmayer and his team, we have gained additional expertise in the future areas of AI, blockchain and cybersecurity.
Matthias Sohler, Founder and General Partner of yabeo
With the introduction of Heinrich Zetlmayer, the yabeo team gains an expert in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. Zetlmayer has an impressive career in which he was not only instrumental in the development and sale of the world's largest independent e-sports league ESL, but also served as Vice President of IBM and General Partner at Blockchain Valley Ventures. The latter will now be integrated into the yabeo company as part of a transaction.
I am excited to expand yabeo's approach as a new General Partner. We want to identify promising startups in the artificial intelligence, blockchain and cybersecurity segments.
Heinrich Zetlmayer, General Partner at yabeo
yabeo has previously invested in companies such as Solaris (FinTech), Cera Care (HealthTech/Care) and Clark (InsureTech) and now manages a total of €300 million in assets under management (AuM) across all platforms. With this portfolio expansion, yabeo is well positioned to invest in the technologies of the future and continue its growth.
