Circula expands to Spain

The Berlin start-up opens an office in Barcelona and cooperates with Travelperk for this purpose.

Spanish companies can now also access the software of the Berlin start-up Circula. So far, the company has offices in Berlin, Leipzig and Düsseldorf. Now a location in Barcelona is being added. Locally, Circula is cooperating with Travelperk, a platform for travel management and, according to its own information, the market leader for business travel in Spain. This collaboration allows the startup to directly access an existing network.

Circula offers a platform through which companies can better manage their employee expenses. In particular, it deals with expenses, travel costs and employee benefits. The company was founded in 2017 by Nikolai Skatchkov and Roman Leicht to reduce bureaucratic hurdles in companies and to bundle part of the administration in an app. As a result, the startup says it now reaches about 100,000 employees and more than 1,200 companies internationally, including Securitas, About You and Urban Sports Club, which is already serviced from Spain.

The company grew by about 250 percent last year and now sees potential for further growth in the Spanish market. To adapt to local conditions, Circula is changing its offering slightly. "Spanish employees demand digital processes in their daily office life and appreciation from their employers," says CEO and Co-Founder Nicolai Skatchkov. "We recognized this demand for employee benefits and integrated it into our holistic employee finance app."
