Customcells will supply the battery cells for the Lilium Jets. The market launch is planned for 2024.

Customcells will be the main supplier of battery cells for Lilium. The batteries will be manufactured at the plant in Tübingen. This was announced by both companies.

"With their extensive experience in the development and production of customized lithium-ion batteries, Customcells is the ideal partner to manufacture the aerospace-grade battery cells for our jet," says Daniel Wiegand, co-founder and CEO of Lilium. The market launch of the jets is planned for 2024. There is space for seven people in one vehicle. The air cabs will initially fly in Germany and Florida.

Both start-ups have had a week of good news: Lilium secured a major order from Brazil. The airline Azul ordered 220 air cabs. Lilium plans to deliver from 2025. Customcells announced the establishment of a joint venture with Porsche. The start-up from Itzehoe is also set to supply batteries for the car manufacturer from Stuttgart in the future. In addition to Porsche, the Munich-based VC Vsquared Ventures and 468 Capital from Alex Kudlich also participated. A double-digit million sum is said to have flowed into the battery start-up.
