Getir raises $768 million and becomes Decacorn

The Turkish delivery service has been operating in Germany since last year. With the new round of financing, Getir aims to become a leader in Europe.
Turkish delivery service Getir has raised a Series E round of funding in the U.S., according to information from Gründerszene closed a Series E funding round of $768 million. This brought the company's valuation to over ten billion dollars and elevated it to decacorn. Mubadala led the funding round. Existing shareholders such as Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global also invested. Mubadala Capital is also invested in German competitor Flink.
With the capital from the financing round, Getir wants to become a leader in Europe. The delivery service has been available in Germany since last year and operates in Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Nuremberg. Like its German competitors Gorillas and Flink, Getir promises delivery of groceries and other supermarket goods within ten minutes.Getir is currently more valuable than Gorillas and Flink. Gorillas raised $1 billion last October, bringing its valuation to 3.1 billion(we reported). However, a new funding round of 700 million euros is in the works. Flink received $560 million last December and is valued at $2.7 billion(we reported).
