New investment enables HealthSage AI to scale its healthcare AI platform. Startup introduces note-to-FHIR technology to improve patient care and reduce the workload of healthcare professionals

Utrecht (The Netherlands), April 16, 2024 - HealthSage AI has successfully closed a seed investment of €3 million, less than a year after inception. The investment will be used to expand and scale the company's healthcare AI platform.

Investment highlights

The €3 million round was led by Peak, with participation from Healthy.Capital, Rubio Impact Ventures and healthcare technology entrepreneurs Jaap Maljers and Jeroen Tas. This funding will enable HealthSage AI to expand its team, intensify marketing and accelerate customer implementation.

Background and business

HealthSage AI was founded in 2023 by Harm-Jan Wessels and Marcel Alberti, who have extensive experience in healthcare and medical software development. The aim is to relieve medical professionals of administrative tasks through AI and thus enable better patient care. HealthSage AI aims to improve healthcare through generative AI and provides a secure platform for various AI applications.

Generative AI has the potential to improve healthcare by reducing the administrative burden on professionals, supporting clinical decision-making and empowering patients to become informed consumers. HealthSage AI is developing an open platform for generative AI to make its use in healthcare safe and compliant.

Note-to-FHIR LLM

Launched in December 2023, Note-to-FHIR converts unstructured medical notes into structured FHIR outputs, improving patient care and reducing the burden on healthcare professionals. Explained more clearly, the Note-to-FHIR LLM (Large Language Model) is a special technology developed by HealthSage AI. It converts unstructured medical notes into structured FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) output. FHIR is a global standard for the electronic exchange of healthcare information. Through this conversion, information can be automatically used to create a patient summary, simplify administrative tasks and support clinical decision making. In addition, the Note-to-FHIR can convert complex clinical notes into language that patients can understand to encourage their active involvement in their own care.
