Heura Foods with €40 million Series B

Heura Foods not only aims to strengthen its presence in the Spanish market, but also plans to expand in key markets such as the UK, France and Italy.
Barcelona - Heura Foods, a Spanish FoodTech company focused on plant-based products, has successfully closed a €40 million Series B financing round. This financing round is primarily intended to drive the company's growth in the field of alternative proteins.
The fresh capital will be used by Heura to continue its growth in the alternative protein sector in Spain. In addition, the company plans to strengthen its presence in key markets such as the UK, France and Italy. Heura Foods also entered the Austrian market last year, entering into a partnership with the supermarket chain Billa.
First patent, more planned
A huge step for Heura Foods was the filing of its first patent in April. This patent enables new nutritional values without additives and can be applied to various vegan food categories. The company intends to develop plant-based alternatives to poultry, pork and fish from ingredients such as soy or pea protein.
The funding round was backed by a whole list of exciting investors, including plant-based manufacturers such as Upfield, Unovis Asset Management, the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund and New Tree Impact.
With the goal of achieving profitability and driving innovation, Heura plans to expand its portfolio of technology patents to address industry challenges in a scalable and global way. The company's strategy also includes expanding its business through technology licensing to accelerate the transformation of the food system and reach a broader audience.
