The Braunschweig-based startup is developing AI for tax firms that complies with data protection regulations, ensuring that sensitive client data never leaves Germany. Founded just this April, it launched in June and secured funding a few weeks later.

The Braunschweig-based AI startup Invecorum has successfully completed its first business angel funding round. What makes this round unique is that all investment commitments were made on the very night of the pitch event hosted by the Banson Business Angel Network in Hanover. The investor team was finalized in less than 24 hours. Regarding the exact amount of the funding, the only information disclosed was that it was a six-figure sum.

AI for Tax Firms

Invecorum is developing an AI platform specifically for tax firms. While many firms face the challenge that sensitive client data is processed on servers operated by international providers when using AI solutions, the startup relies on an infrastructure operated entirely within Germany.

With the fresh capital, Invecorum plans to build its own high-performance computing infrastructure in Germany. The goal is to combine the highest data protection and compliance standards with a level of technical quality that, according to the company, can compete with leading U.S. AI providers.

From Launch to Funding in Just a Few Months

The pace of this young company is remarkable: Founded just in April 2026, Invecorum launched its first product version as early as June 2026. The completion of the business angel funding round followed just a few weeks later. The AI solution is now already being used by tax firms throughout Germany.

The speed of our funding round demonstrates just how great the demand is for independent AI solutions. Solutions must be at least as good as those from U.S. providers—or better.

Daniel Wasmus, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Invecorum

Regional investors are backing AI from Lower Saxony

The funding comes entirely from business angels in Hanover and the surrounding region. Investors include Dr. Gunter Dunkel, former CEO of Nord/LB.

The investors see Invecorum not only as a promising AI startup but also as a sign of Lower Saxony’s strength as a technology hub. They were particularly impressed by the speed with which the founding team developed a market-ready product and secured its first customers within just a few months.

Founding Team Combines AI, Tax, and Research Expertise

Invecorum was founded by Daniel Wasmus, Philip Goddinger, and Irina Meier. While Wasmus brings experience from VC-funded AI startups—most recently at the U.S. company Mixedbread AI—Goddinger is responsible for machine learning, infrastructure, and security. Meier rounds out the team with experience in business, finance, and LegalTech.

The company is also supported by Jens Henke, a tax consultant and TaxTech expert, as well as Prof. Dr. Guido von Rudorff from the University of Kassel, who contributes his expertise in open AI models and their operation on proprietary hardware. Based at the Trafo Hub in Braunschweig, Invecorum aims to demonstrate that high-performance, privacy-compliant AI solutions can also be developed outside of major international tech hubs.
