Jarzombek calls for second future fund of 100 billion euros

It was only in March that the German government announced a future fund to which the state intends to contribute 10 billion euros. The Federal Commissioner for Start-ups, Thomas Jarzombek, now wants to provide considerably more money.
The election campaign for the Bundestag elections is underway and the parties are also positioning themselves on the topic of start-ups. In an interview with the Handelsblatt the current commissioner for the federal government, Thomas Jarzombek (CDU), is calling for a second future fund of 100 billion euros. The first fund, set up in March, comprises ten billion euros from the federal government, with private investors contributing 20 billion euros. According to Jarzombek, the second future fund should also invest abroad, and now is a good time to do so: "In times of low interest rates, Germany can just as easily obtain capital via bonds to make it available to start-ups," Jarzombek told Handelsblatt.
Jarzombek also calls for the removal of bureaucratic obstacles: "Anyone who wants to start a business will not let bureaucracy stop them. But less bureaucracy gives founders more time for business," argues Jarzombek. The demand to simplify the start-up process has been a constant theme in the German start-up scene for years. In an international comparison, the German implementation of employee participation in start-ups is also repeatedly described as complicated. It is particularly unattractive for international talent, who in countries such as the USA receive high and quick profits if their company is successful.
The German Start-ups Association is calling for a strategy for start-ups in the first 100 days of the new federal government from fall 2021. There are ideas. The Greens, for example, are calling for every German to be given 25,000 euros once in their lifetime to start a business. Repayment is only necessary if the company is successful.
