Jarzombek calls for second future fund of 100 billion euros

It was only in March that the German government announced a Future Fund to which the state intends to contribute 10 billion euros. Start-up federal commissioner Thomas Jarzombek now wants to put much more money in hand.

The election campaign for the Bundestag elections is underway and the parties are also positioning themselves on the topic of start-ups. Opposite the Handelsblatt current commissioner for the federal government, Thomas Jarzombek (CDU), is calling for a second future fund of 100 billion euros. The first fund, launched in March, includes ten billion euros from the federal government, with 20 billion euros contributed by private investors. According to Jarzombek, the second Future Fund should also invest abroad, and the time is right now: "In times of low interest rates, Germany can just as easily obtain capital via bonds to make it available to founders," Jarzombek tells the Handelsblatt.

In addition, Jarzombek calls for the reduction of bureaucratic obstacles: "Those who want to start up will not let bureaucracy stop them. Less bureaucracy, however, gives founders more time for business", argues Jarzombek. The demand for simplification of the start-up process has accompanied the German start-up scene for years. In an international comparison, the German implementation of employee participation in start-ups is also repeatedly described as complicated. It is not very attractive, especially for international talents, who in countries like the USA receive high and fast profits when their company is successful.

The German Start-ups Association is calling for a strategy for start-ups in the first 100 days of the new federal government starting in autumn 2021. Ideas are out there. For example, the Greens are calling for each and every German to be given 25,000 euros once in their lifetime to start up. Repayment would only be necessary if the company was successful.
