Jimdo lays off employees again

One-sixth of the team may have to go. It's the second wave of layoffs this year.

Website operator Jimbo is laying off 16 percent of its employees. That's according to a blog post by CEO and founder Matthias Henze. The exact number of employees was not disclosed, but all teams and positions abroad are affected. This reports Gründerszene.

In July, the company still employed 320 people. That was already after the dismissal of around 20 employees from the marketing team. At the time, Henze told Startbase that expectations had not been met.

Now Heinze justifies the decision in his blog post with the impending recession. The world is in crisis, he said, and small businesses in particular are affected, according to the IfO business climate index. Since this is Jimdo's customer base, the startup will also have to accept losses. The restructuring is therefore a preparation for upcoming, more turbulent phases.
