The Moers-based start-up enables a simple analysis of urine, the results are fed into an app. Now two companies are investing in Medipee.

In its Series A financing round, Medipee has attracted two investors. Swiss sanitary products company Geberit and WBG Holding, which operates several nursing homes in Germany, are taking stakes in Medipee.

The Moers-based start-up enables a quick analysis of urine through a small measuring device in the toilet. The results can be viewed via an app to which the device transmits the information. The method replaces the small cups familiar from visits to the doctor. WBG sees Medipee as a direct help for its nursing homes. "We see the benefit in the entire medical and nursing service area," says managing director Christoph Wagner.

"For us, the round is a significant milestone on the way to the market launch of our Medipee platform technology," says co-managing director Frank Willems. Together with Thomas Prokopp and Paul Brandi, he founded the start-up in 2017. The goal is for the financing round to bring a Medipee product to the Digital Health Applications Directory. The start-up plans to submit a corresponding application in the second quarter of 2021. With an approval, the product can be prescribed by prescription.
