Pandektes is using seed funding to further develop its AI-supported legal platform and gain a stronger foothold in the German market. The goal: a central legal database for Europe

Copenhagen, February 4, 2025 - The Danish AI startup Pandektes has received 2.9 million euros in a seed financing round from the venture capital firms People Ventures (Denmark) and Interface Capital (Germany) as well as a group of European business angels. The company plans to use the investment to further develop its AI-supported legal research platform and drive its expansion into Germany.

AI-supported platform for faster legal research

Pandektes has developed an innovative AI platform that makes it easier for lawyers to access legal sources such as judgments and laws. The aim is to build a comprehensive legal database with millions of legal sources from across the EU. The use of large language models (LLMs) and AI should significantly speed up the previously time-consuming legal research process.

"Lawyers currently often only have access to a fraction of the legal sources they need. In addition, the German market is heavily monopolized. Our AI tool will change this by making legal information more accessible and easier to search. This will strengthen the rule of law, provide more transparency in the practice of law and significantly increase the efficiency of the industry," explains Casper Laursen, CEO of Pandektes.

Founded in 2023 by Casper Laursen and Søren Brokær, Pandektes is a legal tech startup based in Copenhagen. The platform enables faster and more efficient searches for legal information by integrating legal sources from different EU countries and supplementing them with AI-supported analysis tools. Pandektes has so far received €3.9 million from investors and counts leading law firms, legal advisors and public institutions in Denmark and Germany among its customers.

Expansion plans and increasing demand

Just two years after its foundation, the platform is already being used by over 100 clients in Europe - including German law firms such as WR-Legal and Eichler Kern Klein Rechtsanwälte. Pandektes intends to use the new funding to strengthen its market position in Germany and to establish a standardized legal database for the entire EU in the long term.

According to Laursen, the cross-border use of legal sources is a decisive competitive advantage: "Our platform makes it possible for a French or Danish decision to be used as a source in German court proceedings. This would be virtually impossible without Pandektes."

Investors back Pandektes

The financing round was accompanied by Christian Reber, a well-known German entrepreneur and investor, among others. This shows the industry's confidence in Pandektes' vision of modernizing the legal sector with AI.
