The Dresden start-up and the Munich-based company both want to develop drugs faster. Their plan: better research into rare diseases.

The Dresden-based start-up PharmAI is joining forces with the Munich-based company NanoTemper Technologies. Together, they want to develop tools for analyzing large amounts of data generated in drug research. The two companies believe that this will also enable smaller laboratories to get involved in drug research and conduct better research into rare diseases.

NanoTemper Technologies has focused on the analysis of biomolecules. Specifically, NanoTemper can determine the size, composition or shelf life of biomolecules, for example. Dresden-based start-up PharmAI, on the other hand, wants to use artificial intelligence to fish out new candidates for an active ingredient from large amounts of data. "Our software makes helpful predictions about drug candidates and reduces millions of possibilities to a manageable size," says Joachim Haupt, CEO of PharmAI. In future, NanoTemper will validate these results. Philipp Baaske, Co-Managing Director at NanoTemper, explains: "Customers don't want to spend a lot of time dealing with measured values, they want to gain new insights and use them in their work. That's exactly what we help them do."

PharmAI has been on the market since 2019 and is a spin-off of the Technical University of Dresden. According to its own information, it analyzes 3D protein structures with the help of artificial intelligence and aims to make drug development more efficient.
