Berlin is one of the most attractive places for start-ups in the world

The online platform Oberlo has compared the conditions for founders in 200 cities. Three German cities made it into the top 75.

Where are the best conditions for starting a business? A study by the online platform Oberlo evaluated factors such as infrastructure, digitalisation and financing in 200 cities and business centres and produced a ranking. One German city narrowly made it into the top ten: Berlin came in ninth.

In terms of support during the Corona pandemic, the German capital was ranked fifth, in terms of access to international markets seventh, in terms of the logistics environment eighth and in terms of technology ninth. Berlin fared worst in the human capital category in the technology sector, coming in at only 24th place.

In addition to Berlin, two other German cities landed in the ranking: Munich came in 19th and Hamburg 24th. Hamburg did very well in the logistics environment category in the international competition, coming in fifth behind Hong Kong, Singapore, Antwerp and Amsterdam.

A total of 75 places were awarded, with first place going to a European capital: London did very well, particularly in terms of venture capital and logistics environment. The top ten are made up mainly of American cities: Second place goes to New York, third place to San Francisco, sixth place to Los Angeles, eighth place to Boston and tenth place to Chicago.
