Project Eaden secures 15 million euros in oversubscribed Series A

The climate tech start-up Project Eaden from Berlin is pushing ahead with its plant-based meat alternative with new funding. REWE will list the innovative ham products from 2025.
Berlin, January 22, 2025 - The climate tech startup Project Eaden has closed an oversubscribed Series A financing round of 15 million euros. The round was led by Planet A and REWE Group, with participation from DeepTech & Climate Fonds (DTCF), Happiness Capital and AgriFoodTech Venture Alliance. Previous investors such as Creandum and FoodLabs invested again.
Ultra-realistic meat alternatives
The startup uses a breakthrough fiber technology inspired by the textile industry to produce plant-based meat alternatives with realistic taste and texture. The funds raised will go towards the market launch of ham products in Germany and the development of further whole cuts of meat. The products will be available at REWE in Germany from mid-2025.
Sustainability and scalability
Project Eaden emphasizes the ecological benefits: Every kilogram unit produced reduces CO₂ emissions by 20 kilograms and saves significant amounts of water and land compared to conventional meat.
Our aim is to make the decision to avoid animal meat a simple one
Jan Wilmking, co-founder of Project Eaden
In addition to the launch in Germany, the company is planning to expand to other European markets. "Our technological approach is versatile, cost-effective and highly scalable," adds co-founder Dr. David Schmelzeisen. This financing round increases the total volume to 27 million euros. Project Eaden shows how innovations in textile technology can transform the food industry. In January 2023, we had already announced an extended seed financing for Project Eaden in January 2023.
