recoupling closes successful pre-seed round
Despite show setback after DHDL, the startup recoupling secures well-known investors for a successful pre-seed round in the six-figure range.
The couples app "recoupling", known from the show "Die Höhle der Löwen", has successfully completed the first closing of its pre-seed financing round. Although the deal fell through on the show, the startup was able to secure a six-figure sum from well-known investors. The media attention helped to attract a considerable sum. The investors include well-known names such as Sebastian von Johnston, Ingo Weber, Bernd Heinrichs (former CEO of Wandelbots) and Manuel Tolle (founder of empfohlen.de).
The biggest challenge was certainly to find investors who fit our values and goals and who were willing to invest in our vision despite the general reluctance these days.

The app allows couples to plan activities together, capture experiences and stay connected. The couples app is designed to help couples strengthen their relationships. The successful financing round enables recoupling to further develop its platform and expand its user base. The company has also partnered with Interactive Pioneers to complement its offering with AI-powered video chatbots.
Many innovations planned
The first closing of the pre-seed financing round marks a significant step for recoupling and shows the investors' confidence in the company. The additional funds will be used to increase the app's reach and improve its services. Planned innovations include gamification, AI chats for couples counseling, English app version and increased marketing for market presence and user growth.
Johanna Lubig (pictured) has now left the founding team. Dr. Mandy Hecht now holds the position of Co-CEO.
Despite the initial obstacles, recoupling remains an example of how start-ups can benefit from media attention, even if a deal does not materialize. The company now plans to continue its mission of helping couples deepen their relationships and build meaningful connections.
