The creditors' meeting votes unanimously in favor of the transferring restructuring of Wunderkarten GmbH. Find out more about how the continuation of the company is guaranteed and how all employees will be taken on by the new investor.

Berlin, March 2024 - Frank Brachwitz, attorney at PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH, has announced positive news in the insolvency proceedings for the start-up Wunderkarten GmbH. The business operations have been successfully sold to an investor by way of a transferring restructuring. The unanimous approval of the creditors' meeting ensures the continuation of the company, including the transfer of all employees.

Economic challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Wunderkarten GmbH operates one of Germany's largest online stores for personalized invitation cards, thank you cards and announcements via www.wunderkarten.de. Due to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company filed for insolvency at the end of October 2023. The restrictions imposed by event and contact bans led to a significant drop in demand for personalized cards, from which the company was unable to recover sufficiently. Frank Brachwitz was subsequently appointed provisional insolvency administrator.

Continuation of operations despite adversity

Thanks to the support of printers, logistics partners and a major key account, the company was able to continue operations. Despite the insolvency application, the planned Christmas card campaign took place with the support of the major customer.

Successful conclusion of the investor process

On January 1, 2024, Charlottenburg Local Court opened insolvency proceedings and appointed Frank Brachwitz as insolvency administrator. He continued the investor process and brought it to a successful conclusion. The transferring restructuring made it possible to sell the business operations to a strategic investor.

The previous Managing Director Valentin Lewandowski will remain with the company and is delighted with the solution: "We were able to find the optimal solution for the company. I am particularly pleased that the new investor is taking on all employees." Frank Brachwitz is also positive: "Wunderkarten GmbH has built up a good image in the industry. This is reflected not least in the very good customer ratings. With the new investor, the company can look to the future with renewed strength." Lawyer Nicolas Konkel supported Brachwitz in the proceedings.
