Smava lays off nearly one hundred employees

This corresponds to a good 15 percent of the workforce. Several employees already had to leave the Berlin-based fintech in August.
Smava has laid off about 15 percent of its workforce, as Gründerszene writes. That would be about 100 employees. On Linkedin already dismissed persons expressed themselves. As a reason for the step, the company gave according to the generally tense economic situation, which forces Smava to comprehensive cost-cutting measures. Back in August, the fintech, founded in 2007, laid off about a tenth of its then still 1,000 employees.
According to the Gründerszene report, 700 people are now still employed by the company. On its own website, Smava speaks of about 600 employees.
Smava brokers consumer loans offered by 20 banks. The startup has been growing most of the time since its founding in 2007. According to its own data, backers invested a total of 159 million euros in the fintech. Just last year, Smava acquired competitor Finanzcheck for a sum estimated at 200 million euros.
