Startups are way ahead of traditional companies in AI use

According to a start-up study, 43 percent of young technology companies already use artificial intelligence.

43 percent of German startups are already using artificial intelligence (AI), and another 40 percent are planning or discussing it. This puts them far ahead of the rest of the German economy. In the economy as a whole, only eleven percent use AI. That's according to the "Startup Report 2022" published by the digital association Bitkom. The association surveyed 150 startups for this purpose.

The report also shows that young companies are ahead of the game when it comes to big data. Forty-eight percent of them are already using the corresponding options, and another 33 percent are planning to use it or are discussing it. In the overall economy, only 37 percent of companies use such data analysis.

"Start-ups are pioneers in the use of technology. As such, they also play an important role for Germany as a tech location," says Bitkom President Achim Berg. He advises both the established economy and the state to rely more on the innovative strength of startups. "Public administration should make extensive use of solutions from startups and ensure that startups get a leg up in tenders. And small companies and SMEs, as well as corporations, should definitely draw on the expertise of startups and collaborate with them." Among other things, startup collaborations with large companies could help.
