The Cologne-based startup Sunhat successfully raises its seed round. EnBW New Ventures, Capnamic, WEPA Ventures and xdeck invest to support companies in providing meaningful sustainability data.

Cologne, February 27, 2024 - Cologne-based startup Sunhat has successfully raised €3 million in fresh capital in its seed round. The investment comes from EnBW New Ventures, Capnamic Ventures, WEPA Ventures and xdeck ventures, the latter of which is already an existing investor. The young company, which specializes in a central system for sustainability requirements, intends to use this capital boost to continue its rapid growth.

Sunhat proudly announced the completion of its seed financing back in May 2023. Since then, the startup's automation software has established itself across industries with suppliers, retailers, manufacturing brands and large corporations. The additional capital will now be used to give this success a further boost.

Sustainability data is in demand

The demand for meaningful sustainability data is increasing and companies are under pressure to provide high-quality information for reporting, ratings and customer inquiries. Sunhat's software enables companies to generate the required data in a matter of seconds and thus meet the increasing demands.

In the medium term, all companies will be obliged to disclose their ESG data

Pascal Beckers, Principal at EnBW New Ventures

EnBW New Ventures emphasizes the relevance of a central system for the correct transmission of ESG data: "With 11,700 companies currently affected by the reporting obligation, the number of indirectly affected suppliers and partners is already significantly higher today. In the medium term, all companies will be obliged to disclose their ESG data. With increasing requirements, a centralized system for the correct transmission of this data is crucial," explains Pascal Beckers, Principal at EnBW New Ventures.

Sunhat offers companies a flexible platform to map sustainability requirements, manage projects and fulfill tasks. The software focuses on making the existing database dynamically usable for different requirements, which makes it a crucial tool for users.

Sunhat aims to drive transformation by using AI-powered technology to automate processes and significantly increase the productivity of companies in meeting diverse requirements.

Lukas Vogt, co-founder and CEO at Sunhat

Sunhat's AI-powered technology enables incoming requests to be synchronized in real time and processed immediately. The system understands complex sustainability requirements, matches them to existing data points and supports experts in quickly generating answers. The fresh capital will now be used to further develop the technology and expand the sales and tech team.
