New sports trends and media coverage are helping the fitness company and obviously supporting its growth. One channel is benefiting from this.

According to its own figures, the sports start-up Urban Sports Club was able to increase its membership by 51% between June 2021 and June 2022. The entry of ProSiebenSat.1, which invested in the start-up in 2021 and gave it a lot of advertising time on its own platforms, is likely to have helped.

With over 50 sports, Urban Sports Club offers both classroom and online courses and has over 10,000 locations in six European countries. According to the start-up, a number of new fitness trends have emerged in New York to promote hybrid working models and more individualization. Trail running and indoor cycling are also among the new sports trends. According to Urban Sports Club, it has adapted to these trends and increased demand by expanding its live online and on-demand classes. "Our goal is to bring even more people back to the studios via the flexible Urban Sports Club membership and thus further promote health. Together with ProSiebenSat.1 as a partner, we want to get those who are not yet active excited about sport and wellness," says Moritz Kreppel, CEO and co-founder of Urban Sports Club.

Friedrich Thoma, CEO of ProsiebenSat.1's Commerce & Ventures segment, is delighted with the cooperation: "The successful development underlines the value and effectiveness of TV as a medium and the attractiveness of ProSiebenSat.1 as a strategic investor in up-and-coming growth companies. We look forward to continuing to support the Urban Sports Club team in achieving its corporate goals with our expertise in marketing and in addressing the right target groups."
