Workbee raises capital for the first time

The start-up, which places care workers in jobs, was able to convince several prominent business angels. The Berliners now want to use the money to improve the technology and double the number of staff.
HR start-up Workbee has raised outside capital for the first time. The company received a total of one million euros from various investors and business angels. The names mentioned include Olav Sehlbach (Managing Director of aap), Jörg Peter Heimel (Chairman of the Emvia Living Group), Marc Müller (CEO of the ETL Group) and Jan Dzulko (ex-CEO of Check24).
Workbee, founded in 2020 by Steffen Biese and Jim Sellmeijer, places care professionals in suitable jobs. The Berlin-based company offers its recruiting and matching services on the basis of fixed prices, not commission-based. This is intended to make the service more affordable for companies. "With Workbee, those who make an enormous contribution to our society should finally find jobs with the recognition they deserve," explains founder Biese. So far, around 3,000 matches have been made via the service.
Workbee intends to use the money to refine its matching criteria. On the other hand, the current team of twelve people is to be doubled. Workbee is receiving support from HR company builder Allygatr. "Workbee's mission is extremely relevant. It already was years ago, and now the coronavirus crisis has only made the care crisis even more pressing," says Allygatr CEO Benjamin Visser, explaining the company's involvement.
