Instabox launches in Germany

The Swedish start-up is growing by 300 percent annually. Instabox is now setting its sights on Germany - initially in the greater Berlin and Hamburg areas as well as in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Swedish delivery service for the so-called "last mile" Instabox wants to expand to Germany from the beginning of 2022. The technology company wants to win over customers with a combination of automated parcel lockers and environmentally friendly home deliveries. With annual growth of over 300 percent, it sees itself as one of the fastest growing companies in Europe. The company expects rapid expansion in Germany.

In Germany, Instabox initially plans to operate in the greater Berlin area, Hamburg and the North Rhine-Westphalia region. The company wants to get started with two new logistics centers. These are to be located in Berlin and Düsseldorf. Over the course of 2022, further stations will be added quickly to give Instabox broader geographical coverage. A network of lockers is to be created at conveniently located sites. "The e-commerce industry is constantly growing, but in terms of delivery options, customers have so far been offered the long waiting times and daytime home delivery that traditional companies offer," says founder and CEO Alexis Priftis. His company now wants to change this system.

Instabox already delivers to millions of customers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands. This is done either by delivery to one of the 3,000 parcel lockers or by home delivery. The company already delivers parcels from major e-commerce partners. These include Amazon, H&M, Ikea and De Bijenkorf.
