$20 million for Europe's security platform for AI agents, NeuralTrust
The Spanish cybersecurity startup NeuralTrust has closed a seed funding round of $20 million. According to the startup, this is the largest seed funding round to date for a European cybersecurity startup.
The round is led by Alstin Capital. Other participants include VentureFriends, Seaya, Kibo Ventures, Banc Sabadell, the EA Ventures Plug and Play Fund, and Finaves, the venture capital fund of the IESE Business School. The company is also supported by grants from the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the Spanish research agency AEI.
NeuralTrust plans to use the capital to further develop its platform, expand its development team, and accelerate its expansion in the European market.
The Security Challenge Behind the AI Agent Boom
Companies are increasingly relying on autonomous AI agents that perform tasks independently, process data, and prepare decisions. While the technology is rapidly making its way into production, the necessary control and security mechanisms are often lacking.
According to Gartner, by 2027, around 40 percent of all AI agent projects could be scaled back or shut down because governance and security issues only become apparent during ongoing operations. At the same time, analysts expect that large corporations could each deploy more than 150,000 AI agents by 2028. Nevertheless, only a few companies currently feel sufficiently prepared to monitor and control these systems.
A Control Layer for Autonomous AI
NeuralTrust’s platform is designed to help companies visualize all AI agents, manage their permissions, and identify risks in real time. According to the company, the platform analyzes millions of agent interactions daily.
In the process, approximately 1.2 percent of all interactions are classified as potentially harmful. These include, for example, attempts to extract confidential data, circumvent security policies, or trick agents into performing unauthorized actions.
Three Products for Visibility, Control, and Protection
NeuralTrust’s offering is based on three core components:
- TrustGate acts as a control mechanism for all AI model and tool calls.
- TrustGuard detects and blocks attacks as well as suspicious behavior during operation.
- TrustLens provides companies with a comprehensive overview of the agents in use and their activities.
Through the close integration of these components, NeuralTrust aims to create a central security and governance layer for agent-based AI.
Banks, Airlines, and Government Agencies as Customers
The technology is already being used by well-known organizations. Clients include, among others, the airlines Iberia and Air Europa, as well as the banks Abanca and Banc Sabadell. In addition, NeuralTrust collaborates with energy providers, government agencies, and other major international companies.
According to the startup, 92 percent of its clients generate annual revenue of more than one billion U.S. dollars. Growth is dynamic: In the first quarter of 2026, NeuralTrust had already doubled its total ARR from the previous year.
Founders with Experience at Amazon, Mango, and McKinsey
NeuralTrust was founded by Joan Vendrell, Victor Garcia, and Alejandro Domingo.
CEO Joan Vendrell was previously Chief Data Officer at the fashion group Mango and worked at Amazon and McKinsey before that. CTO Victor Garcia brings many years of experience from regulated industries such as telecommunications and banking, while COO Alejandro Domingo was previously responsible for AI transformation projects at McKinsey.
In addition, the company regularly publishes its own security research and has already identified several novel attack methods targeting AI systems, which have since been incorporated into the standards of the OWASP AI Security Project.
AI Agents as a New Security Category
NeuralTrust anticipates that securing AI agents will become a distinct security category in the coming years—comparable to endpoint security or cloud security.
With this fresh capital, the startup aims to secure this position early on and establish itself as a central security platform for companies that deploy thousands of autonomous AI agents in production.
