Aeon Raises Seed Funding to Over $14 Million and Acquires Aware Health

Aeon is acquiring Aware Health, thereby gaining access to technology, a network of more than 45 blood collection sites, and a platform for over 100 biomarkers.

Swiss health tech company Aeon has completed an extension of its seed funding round and, at the same time, acquired key assets from Berlin-based blood diagnostics provider Aware Health. This brings the Zurich-based company’s total seed capital to more than 14 million U.S. dollars. The extension round is co-led by Araya Ventures. Aeon plans to integrate Aware’s technology, team, and diagnostic infrastructure into its platform and combine full-body MRI, regular blood tests, and AI-based risk assessments.

From a Snapshot to Continuous Prevention

Aeon offers AI-powered health screenings that utilize, among other things, whole-body MRIs for early detection. According to the company, this allows for the examination of more than 500 potential abnormalities in the brain, organs, and blood vessels. With the acquisition of Aware, the goal is to develop a more continuous preventive care offering.

The idea behind this is that while an MRI scan provides a detailed snapshot of the body, it is performed only at specific points in time. Blood tests, on the other hand, can be conducted regularly, and changes in blood values can be tracked over longer periods. Aeon aims to combine both data sources and also incorporate genetic information. AI models will use this data to recognize individual trends, identify abnormalities earlier, and predict long-term personal health risks.

Aware Brings 100 Biomarkers and 45 Locations to the Table

Aware Health has established a platform for blood diagnostics in Germany. Its offerings included more than 100 biomarkers and various preventive testing packages. According to the company, nearly 10,000 active customers were recently using the service. A network of more than 45 locations was available for blood draws.

Aeon is now acquiring the entire technology platform, key contracts and equipment, customer relationships, and the core team. The Berlin-based team will continue to operate under the Aeon brand.

Aeon is particularly interested in the existing infrastructure. In addition to the blood collection sites, this includes laboratory integrations and the regulatory infrastructure. The acquisition thus provides the Swiss company with resources that, according to Aeon’s estimates, would have taken several years to build up on its own.

Customer Data Only with Express Consent

The handling of health data plays a special role in the acquisition. Through recurring blood tests, Aware has built up a longitudinal dataset of biomarkers that Aeon intends to use in the future for the development of its AI models. However, the company emphasizes that customer data will not be automatically transferred as part of the transaction.

Any transfer will take place exclusively with the express individual consent of the respective customer and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. This point is relevant for the development of AI-based health models, as Aeon’s long-term strategy is based on linking various types of sensitive health data.

More Than $14 Million in Seed Capital

In parallel with the acquisition, Aeon has expanded its seed financing. In total, the company has raised more than 14 million U.S. dollars during its seed phase. The expansion round was co-led by Araya Ventures. Existing investors Concentric, GoHub Ventures, Kadmos Capital, Calm/Storm Ventures, N&V Capital, and Bigwave Capital also participated.

The additional capital is intended to finance both the integration of Aware Health and further expansion in Europe. Aeon has been active in Germany since early 2026. According to the company, the market has already become the fastest-growing one for the Swiss health tech firm.

AI Aims to Detect Changes Over Time

In addition to securing funding and completing the acquisition, Aeon is also expanding its AI team. Pablo Tano is taking on the role of AI Lead.

He will be responsible for developing the platform’s so-called “Intelligence Layer.” The models used there are designed to jointly analyze data from imaging, blood tests, and genetic testing. Rather than looking at individual lab or MRI results in isolation, Aeon aims to track changes over months and years.

Imaging tells you where you are. Blood diagnostics tell you where you’re headed. AI is what connects the two into prediction.

Tim Seithe, Founder and CEO

According to Aeon, more than 90 percent of the checkups conducted today already yield results from which customers can derive concrete actions. The company estimates the proportion of significant findings at 15.4 percent. These figures come from Aeon and, taken on their own, do not yet allow for any conclusions about the medical benefits of such screening or the actions derived from it.

Acquisition Expected to Accelerate Expansion by Two Years

Strategically, the Aware acquisition is primarily a shortcut for Aeon in building out its German business. Instead of building its own network for blood draws, laboratory connections, and regulatory processes, the company can draw on an already established infrastructure. CEO Tim Seithe expects the acquisition to accelerate the company’s strategy by about two years.

Aware co-founder Ferdinand Schmidt-Thomé, in turn, sees the combination with whole-body imaging and AI as an opportunity to integrate existing blood diagnostics into a broader range of preventive services.

Aeon Focuses on Continuous Health Data

The acquisition also marks a shift in Aeon’s business model. The goal is to move away from individual, comprehensive health screenings toward a continuous platform that regularly updates its data foundation. This approach follows a current trend in the health tech sector: health data should not be collected only when specific symptoms arise, but as continuously as possible to identify risks earlier.

The technological challenge lies in deriving medically relevant and reliable insights from the growing volume of data. Particularly in the case of preventive screenings, potential false positives, overdiagnosis, and the clinical utility of any abnormalities found must also be taken into account.

With the fresh seed capital and Aware Health’s infrastructure, Aeon now has significantly more resources to scale its approach, particularly in Germany.
