Hansetherm Receives 10 Million Euros in Seed Funding
hansetherm has secured seed funding of ten million euros. The round was signed in April 2026 and closed in May. The announcement was made public on October 22. Investors include G-FUND and several companies from the real estate sector, including the Optima Aegidius Group. Founders Leon Thomsen and Konstantin Lennertz are also contributing their own capital and, according to the company, are among the largest investors in the round. The exact breakdown of the funding among the individual investors was not disclosed. Likewise, hansetherm did not provide any information regarding the company’s valuation. The new capital is to be used primarily to expand the team, further develop the company’s proprietary software, and increase installation capacity. In addition, the company plans to expand its business model beyond the installation of heat pumps.
Heat Pump Installation Within 30 Days
hansetherm was founded in Hamburg in 2023 and specializes in the planning, installation, and maintenance of heat pumps. The company primarily targets homeowners who wish to replace their existing heating systems. Speed is a key component of the business model. According to the company, hansetherm can install and commission heat pumps throughout Germany within 30 days. In doing so, the startup addresses a situation in which homeowners are often under time pressure: When an existing heating system breaks down or needs to be replaced on short notice, there is little time for extensive planning. hansetherm therefore aims to make the decision-making and installation process as simple as possible. The service offering includes consulting, technical planning, assistance with grants and financing, as well as installation and maintenance. For customers, this is intended to result in a complete package with a guaranteed fixed price. The press release does not specify the conditions under which the stated installation timeframe applies or how often the deadline is actually met.
Digital Planning and AI Are Designed to Speed Up Processes
A central component of the business model is the digitization of processes. hansetherm uses its own planning tool to record the technical requirements of a heat pump installation and prepare the necessary steps. According to the company, it employs artificial intelligence at various stages of this process. The goal is to automate repetitive tasks and reduce the effort required for planning and project management. According to the company, personalized customer consultation remains an integral part of its service offering. For installations, hansetherm follows a hybrid model. In addition to its own installation teams, the company collaborates with a Germany-wide network of qualified tradespeople. These partners are integrated into the project workflows via a dedicated installation platform. In this way, hansetherm aims to create additional installation capacity without having to carry out all work exclusively through its own employees. The combination of digital processes, in-house teams, and external specialist contractors is designed to enable project execution throughout Germany. Upon project completion, the company also surveys customer satisfaction and plans to use these results to further improve its processes.
More Than 1,000 Heat Pumps Installed
According to its own figures, hansetherm has installed more than 1,000 heat pumps since its founding. The company now employs 90 people. Within about three years, the startup has thus established an operational structure that covers both the technical planning and the implementation of projects. Specific details regarding revenue, profitability, or the annual growth in installation numbers have not been disclosed. The average project volumes and the breakdown between the company’s own installation teams and external contractors also remain undisclosed. With the new funding, hansetherm aims to further expand its capacity and attract additional customers. Expanding the installation infrastructure is crucial in this regard, as the business model continues to include extensive hands-on services in addition to software and consulting.
Photovoltaics, Air Conditioning, and Storage as Next Business Areas
In the long term, hansetherm aims to be more than just a heat pump provider. The company plans to evolve into a more comprehensive service provider for the energy supply of residential buildings. The heat pump serves as the entry point into a home’s technical infrastructure. Building on this foundation, the company intends to offer additional products and services. These include photovoltaic systems, air conditioning systems, and battery storage. According to co-founder Konstantin Lennertz, replacing a heating system often leads to a long-term customer relationship. A company that reliably handles planning and installation can remain the point of contact for future investments in the building’s energy supply. For hansetherm, this opens up the opportunity to sell additional services to existing customers. The financing is therefore also intended to help gradually expand the product portfolio. No specific figure was given for how large the share of revenue from these additional energy services is expected to become in the future.
Proprietary App Aims to Optimize Energy Consumption
The hansetherm app plays an important role in expanding the product offering. The app is designed to allow customers to control their heat pump and optimize energy consumption. According to the company, AI-based functions are also used for this purpose. In the long term, the goal is to connect multiple energy components within a building. In addition to the heat pump, these include, for example, a photovoltaic system and a battery storage unit. Through integrated control, households could use self-generated solar power more effectively for heating and hot water. Coordinating electricity generation, storage, and consumption also offers opportunities to reduce energy costs. The actual savings achieved depend, among other things, on the building’s technical specifications, consumption habits, and applicable electricity rates. So far, hansetherm has not provided specific results from the app’s use or independently verified savings figures.
Heat Pump Market Continues to Gain Importance
With its growth strategy, hansetherm is banking on the increasing adoption of electric heating systems. Heat pumps are considered a key technology for decarbonizing the building sector. They utilize environmental heat from the air, ground, or water and raise its temperature using an electrically powered refrigerant cycle. This allows buildings to be heated and supplied with hot water. According to the German Heat Pump Association, nearly half of all new heat generators sold in Germany in 2025 were heat pumps. This means that, for the first time, heat pumps have surpassed gas heating as the best-selling heating system. For 2026, hansetherm forecasts further growth in sales and market share. The increasing demand creates growth opportunities for providers who can efficiently organize planning, installation, and maintenance. At the same time, market development depends on factors such as subsidy conditions, electricity prices, investment costs, and the availability of qualified professionals. In particular, coordinating trades services remains a major challenge when scaling such business models.
From Installation Company to Integrated Energy Provider
With this 10-million-euro seed round, hansetherm aims to launch its next phase of growth. The company’s development to date has been based on a clearly defined offering: heat pumps are to be planned quickly and digitally and installed at a fixed price. Now, this model is to be extended to other areas of residential energy supply. The combination of installation services, proprietary software, and digital energy management could enable the company to support customers beyond the initial heating system replacement. To achieve this, hansetherm must further scale both its technological systems and the practical implementation carried out by its own teams and partner companies. With more than 1,000 heat pumps installed and 90 employees, the company already has operational experience. The new financing provides additional leeway to expand installation capacities and supplement its offerings with photovoltaics, energy storage, and air conditioning. A key factor for the company’s future development will be whether hansetherm can reliably meet its promised short installation times even as the number of projects increases and successfully establish the additional energy services in a cost-effective manner.
