DeepL releases AI writing assistant

The AI is supposed to be able to optimize all text forms. The start-up's new function is initially available as a beta version.

The Cologne-based start-up DeepL is releasing its AI writing assistant DeepL Write for German and English. The new AI is designed to help its users express themselves better and improve their writing style. Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker learned about this and other milestones from DeepL during a visit on Monday. "The success story of DeepL shows how Cologne founders are shaping the world of tomorrow with their solutions," Reker said. Artificial intelligence is a key technology that can simplify people's lives."

According to the company, the new technology DeepL Write will be able to recognize contextual nuances in texts and suggest wording based on them. The AI could help formulate texts in a more comprehensible, fluent, pointed or lively manner - depending on the requirements, the company said. It could be used to correct emails as well as theses. "Ultimately, Write serves as a pool of ideas and a stimulus for fine-tuning one's own text," says DeepL CEO Jaroslaw Kutylowski. The AI is currently in beta and is continuously being trained to improve its accuracy, he adds.
