DesignVerse secures 5.5 million US dollars in seed capital

The creation of software has become much easier in recent years thanks to artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, the real challenge in large companies lies not in writing code, but in understanding complex system contexts.

Companies work with evolved architectures, internal standards, regulatory requirements and legacy systems that are sometimes decades old. Any change must fit seamlessly into this existing structure without jeopardizing existing processes or systems. DesignVerse sees this as an opportunity for its own business model.

The round was jointly led by Begin Capital and Gapminder VC. Underline Ventures also participated in the round again. Strategic angel investors from companies such as Adobe, London Stock Exchange Group, Planable and UiPath also supported the start-up. The company intends to use the capital to further develop its platform, which provides a system-wide AI context layer for enterprise software.

5.5 million US dollars for the development of an "AI Context Layer"

In large organizations, software is rarely created in a single step. Rather, it develops continuously through translation processes between design, engineering, documentation and business logic.

Design systems become code, architectural specifications become implicit assumptions, documentation becomes interpretation. Over time, inconsistencies arise that lead to real complexity: duplication of work, fragmented systems and software landscapes that are difficult to maintain.

Context instead of isolated code generation

The startup is building an AI-supported context layer that understands existing company artifacts such as documentation, component libraries, architecture rules and engineering standards. Instead of generating software in isolation, the system takes the entire organizational context into account. This results in software that is compatible with existing systems from the outset and has less "drift" between planning and implementation.

In practice, this should enable development teams to work up to five times faster when developing new systems and enhancing existing ones.

Use in critical infrastructure

One of the first large-scale deployments of the technology was at EUROCONTROL, the European air traffic control coordination organization.

A 15-year-old operational application was modernized in just over a month. A process that would traditionally have taken around six months. The systems supported by the platform today help to control air traffic in Europe and thus indirectly influence the processes for millions of passengers every year.

Many current AI tools focus on prototyping or individual developer workflows. This is not enough in enterprise environments, where other requirements apply.

Systems must be integrable, auditable, secure and regulatory compliant. The real bottleneck is therefore not the generation of code, but the ability to reliably operate and further develop software within complex system landscapes.

Even if the startup integrates itself at this point, the reader has the feeling that it is a very competitive environment. This week alone, we have already had AI within company data for documentation, employee training and uncovering unrecognized treasures. Although there can be a huge difference between the individual specialist areas, it feels like these are meta-problems that AI can solve as soon as possible.
