If the EU has its way, in future it should be possible to set up a start-up in less than a day with less than 100 euros. But Germany is putting the brakes on the plans.

In future, start-ups should be able to be founded quickly and unbureaucratically throughout the EU. At least that's what it says in a joint declaration that the EU states want to adopt on Friday at the "Digital Day", as the Handelsblatt reports. In doing so, they want to ensure that young companies can grow quickly and do not fail due to bureaucratic hurdles. However, according to the Handelsblatt , Germany is insisting on national law.

At the urging of the Ministry of Justice, the Federal Republic apparently wants to issue a protocol declaration and oppose the quick and inexpensive formation of companies online. "With regard to the existing principles of national company law, Germany emphasizes the importance and benefits of a careful legal examination in the formation phase of a company," Handelsblatt quotes from the protocol note.

The Ministry of Justice's plan has already been criticized by the start-up association. "Completely crazy. We keep talking about wanting to be a modern country. Wanting to be a center of innovation. Wanting to be at the forefront. Want to. Want to. Want. But instead of just doing it, there's a lot of lamenting, slowing down and waffling. I don't understand it," writes Christian Miele, President of the German Start-up Association on Twitter. Dorothee Bär, Minister of State in the Federal Chancellery for Digitalization, also criticized the Ministry of Justice. "Start-ups must be possible in one day. The blockade of the @BMJV_Bund leaves me stunned. We need bright minds & more start-ups, not fewer," she wrote on Twitter.
