Crowdfunding platform OneCrowd files for bankruptcy for three companies
The crowdinvesting platform OneCrowd has filed for insolvency with the Dresden Local Court on behalf of its parent company, OneCrowd GmbH, as well as its subsidiaries OneCrowd Loans GmbH and OneCrowd Securities GmbH. The court has appointed provisional insolvency administrators from the law firm BBL Brockdorff for all three companies. OneCrowd is best known here for its Seedmatch platform.
Business operations are to continue without restriction during the preliminary insolvency proceedings. At the same time, the insolvency administrators, together with management, are reviewing the financial situation and possible restructuring options.
Investor Process to Begin Shortly
Different provisional insolvency administrators from the law firm BBL Brockdorff, which specializes in restructuring, were appointed for the three companies. Dr. Christian Heintze will oversee OneCrowd GmbH, Heiko Schäfer will oversee OneCrowd Loans GmbH, and Christian Graf Brockdorff will oversee OneCrowd Securities GmbH. The three insolvency administrators are working closely together and, in collaboration with management, intend to analyze the financial situation, stabilize business operations, and lay the groundwork for a successful restructuring.
In parallel with stabilizing the company, a structured investor process is to be initiated. The goal is to attract one or more investors who will invest in OneCrowd and further develop the platform over the long term.
According to the preliminary insolvency administration, the conditions for this are favorable. OneCrowd has an established market position and has, over the years, established itself as a financing partner for startups, growth companies, and other issuers in the crowdinvesting market.
Platform Operations Continue Uninterrupted
For investors and issuers, the preliminary insolvency proceedings are not expected to result in any immediate changes. According to the parties involved, all financing agreements between issuers and investors remain in effect and are not part of the insolvency estate.
Key platform services, including payment processing, reporting, and the technical administration of financing, will also continue during the proceedings. Ongoing investments will therefore be managed as usual.
Bond payments suspended for the time being
However, the corporate bond issued by OneCrowd GmbH in 2022 is affected by these measures. Interest and principal payments have been suspended until further notice. According to the provisional insolvency administrator, bondholders do not need to take any further action at this time and will be informed separately about the progress of the proceedings.
Employees’ salaries are initially secured through the statutory insolvency allowance.
Leading Provider in German Crowd Investing
OneCrowd is one of the best-known providers of digital investment models and alternative investments in the German-speaking region. Until 2025, the company operated the platforms Seedmatch, Econeers, and Mezzany before consolidating them under the joint OneCrowd brand.
With the restructuring process now underway, one of the established players in the German crowdinvesting market is facing a decisive phase. Whether an investor can be found and the platform will continue to operate in the long term should become clear in the coming weeks.
