The Berlin-based PropTech company metr has successfully completed its Series B funding round, raising 10.5 million euros. The new investor is SBG – Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH. In addition, existing investors Kachel GmbH (WIKA), IBB Capital, BRAWO Capital, Next Big Thing AG, and existing business angels are participating in the funding round once again.

With the fresh capital, metr plans to further expand its AI platform, establish a new location in Saxony, and prepare for international expansion.

AI Optimizes Energy Consumption in Existing Buildings

metr is developing an AI-based platform that combines energy management and heating optimization into a single, centralized solution. The system can be integrated with existing heating systems and helps owners, housing companies, and asset managers reduce energy consumption and improve the energy efficiency of their properties—without the need for time-consuming and costly renovation measures.

Against the backdrop of rising energy costs, stricter regulatory requirements, and falling real estate values, the intelligent optimization of existing buildings is becoming increasingly important.

Strong Growth Impresses Investors

The financing follows a dynamic growth phase for the company. In fiscal year 2025, metr increased its revenue by more than 80 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, the company achieved a net retention rate of over 140 percent, an important indicator of high customer satisfaction and additional growth within its existing customer base.

Today, more than 80 customers from the housing industry, asset management, and corporate real estate sectors already rely on the platform.

Expansion in Saxony and International Growth

Part of the funding will go toward establishing a new hub in Leipzig, which is intended to optimize supply chains and further improve customer support. At the same time, metr is preparing to enter international markets.

In the long term, the company aims to become the leading European platform for smart energy management of existing buildings.

Digitalization as a Lever for the Energy Transition

With its combination of artificial intelligence, building automation, and energy management, metr is addressing a market that is expected to grow in importance in the coming years. While energy-efficient renovations often require significant investment, the company focuses on optimizing existing heating systems and digital processes to reduce energy consumption, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions in the short term.

The successful Series B funding round underscores investors’ growing interest in PropTech solutions that combine economic efficiency with sustainability.
