The Dutch provider of second-hand designer furniture and art is now aiming to become the market leader in Germany.

The Dutch start-up Whoppah has successfully launched in Germany. The provider of second-hand designer furniture and art reported external sales of 500,000 euros in Germany in its first three months. As a result, the company estimates its annual sales volume in Germany at two million euros and now wants to focus on the German market.

"As the Netherlands' largest neighboring country, Germany offers enormous potential for Whoppah," says Thomas Bunnik, co-founder and CEO of the start-up. "We see a very style-conscious target group in this country as well as a great need for a sustainable lifestyle." The start-up's offering would combine both. Founded in 2019, the company offers dealers and private individuals the opportunity to buy and sell furniture and works of art. The start-up checks the quality of the items and offers buyers a security guarantee. The platform is currently active in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Next on the company's agenda is expansion into France and Italy.

Whoppah is planning to raise 20 million euros in growth financing this year. The company is already in talks with investors.
