The family-owned company Fiege invests in the start-up Sennder. With this, it wants to digitalise the logistics industry.

The Berlin-based start-up Sennder raised 80 million euros in a financing round in June. Now the Greven-based family business Fiege has also invested. "Together we will introduce innovative solutions for the logistics industry and at the same time underpin our respective growth paths," says David Nothacker, co-founder and CEO of Sennder about the cooperation with Fiege.

For Fiege, the investment in Sennder is a further step towards digitalising and supplementing its own transport offering. In the end, it is primarily the customers who should benefit, says Managing Director Felix Fiege. "That's why it's more than just a classic financial investment, it's first and foremost a strategic partnership from which both sides will derive their benefit," Fiege says.

Sennder offers a platform where shippers can connect with freight forwarders. Founded in 2015, the start-up manages over 12,500 trucks across Europe and has more than 900 employees. Meanwhile, the logistics company is considered a unicorn - it is worth over one billion euros. In addition to Fiege, big names such as Baillie Gifford, Accel, Lakestar, HV Capital, Project A, Next47, Scania Growth Capital, Earlybird and Perpetual are also investing in Sennder.
