Gorillas apparently planning own credit card

According to a media report, internal documents show that Gorillas wants to become profitable as a fintech. In addition to a credit card, the Berliners also want to offer a rebate program.
So far, Gorillas is not yet profitable with fast food delivery and is burning a lot of money to become the market leader. There are plenty of competitors: In addition to Flink, Grovy and Foodpanda, the Turkish original Getir has also entered the German market. An internal presentation that Finance Forward and Capital is now available, is supposed to show that Gorillas is already planning further. The plan is called "Gorillas 2.0." Apparently, the Berlin start-up also wants to offer credit cards and a discount program for its customers in the future.
The two media outlets write that the plan is still without a timeline, but that Gorillas is apparently on the verge of rebuilding itself into a fintech. Should Gorillas also offer a financial infrastructure in the future - according to the plan - it could bind customers more closely and encourage them to make more purchases. The startup wants half of its spending on everyday items to be done through Gorillas in the future, Finance Forward and Capital write, citing the presentation. With the help of the credit card, Gorillas would also gain access to valuable data.
The delivery startup has come under heavy criticism recently. Employees went on strike at several locations after a colleague was dismissed for arriving at work a few minutes late. Berlin's Pankow district office fined Gorillas for using the sidewalk as a storage area.
