Notice of penalty payment for Gorilla's warehouse in Berlin

Gorillas ignored the deadline for eviction, now the next step follows: the Pankow district office imposes a fine for blocking the sidewalk in front of a gorilla warehouse.

The trouble continues, but this time it's coming from another side: on June 18, a deadline expired for Gorillas of the Pankow district office to clear the sidewalk in front of the start-up's warehouse in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. Gorillas did nothing, and now a penalty notice is being sent out, which includes a three-figure fine.

"The management has not responded to the eviction notice," says Pankow's councillor for public order Daniel Krüger (AfD) to the Berlin newspaper. "The situation is unchanged, the sidewalk is still being used, sometimes even vans are parked there." There were repeated complaints from residents who could not see any way through on the sidewalk, where bicycles, containers and food were and still are parked.

Krüger suspects that this notice could also be ignored by gorillas, in which case the sidewalk could be cleared: "But that is rather unlikely due to the limited capacities in the district office. In the end, the case could end up before the administrative court," Krüger told the Tagesspiegel.

In addition to the anger with the district office, the anger with the protests by Gorillas employees continues. There are repeated calls for protests in Berlin on social media, and on Monday the Gorillas Workers Collective published a list of demands to the company, such as the payment of missing wages and better equipment.
