The Berlin-based start-up opens a location in New York. Already, 20 percent of sales come from the United States.

Berlin-based HR startup Leapsome is looking to expand its U.S. business by opening a location in New York. Already without its own office in the United States, the young company apparently generated 20 percent of its revenue there. "The software market in the U.S. dominates worldwide, and many companies there are already focusing more on the potential of people enablement than here in Germany," Marc-Alexander Vetter, who is responsible for expansion at Leapsome, told Fundscene. With its own local team, the start-up wants to significantly increase its market share. Co-founder Jenny von Podewils wants to move from Berlin to New York for this purpose.

Von Podewils founded Leapsome together with Kajetan von Armansperg in 2016. With their start-up, they have developed a platform with which they want to strengthen the empowerment of employees. It is designed to help companies develop a corporate culture that motivates employees and thus also improves their performance. Through it, for example, managers can give feedback to their employees, personal goals can be set and new team members can be trained.

In March, the startup raised $60 million in its Series A funding round. The money came from venture capitalists Insight Partners, Creandum and Visionaries Club.
