Lengoo receives 20 million US dollars

Customers of the Berlin start-up include Sixt, the WWF and Michelin. A prominent investor is a new addition.
Lengoo is able to raise a total of $20 million in its Series B funding round. The main investor is Dutch venture capital firm Inkef Capital. In addition, the existing investors Redalpine, Creathor Ventures, Techstars as well as the angel investors Matthias Hilpert and Michael Schmitt participate. New additions are Polipo Ventures and Volker Pyrtek, the former CPO of Deutsche Telekom.
"Lengoo's successful use of augmented intelligence in translation demonstrates the true power of human-machine collaboration and is one of the first AI service models to gain broad acceptance among enterprise customers ", said investor Frank Lansink of Inkef Capital. In total, the startup has raised €34 million.
Lengoo offers translation using machine learning. Its main competitors are Cologne-based translator DeepL and Google with its Google Translator. In the past year, Lengoo has increased its turnover more than sixfold, according to its own figures. The start-up has 50 corporate customers, including Sixt, the WWF and Sunrise Communications. The number of employees has tripled in the past year, earlier than planned, the Berliners have expanded: in the U.S. , to the UK, Scandinavia and to Poland. "We want to use the additional capital to build a global presence for our global customers," says founder and CEO Christopher Kränzler.
