Mapify founders give up

The coronavirus pandemic is bringing the young company to its knees. The travel start-up is better off with an experienced partner, the founders write.
The travel start-up Mapify will no longer exist. This was announced by co-founder Patrick Haede in a post on LinkedIn. The coronavirus pandemic has brought the Berlin-based start-up to its knees. "We have come to the conclusion that we cannot continue on our current path," writes CEO Haede in the post. "At the end of last year, we came to the conclusion that Mapify would be better off with a more experienced partner from the travel industry." He initially left open what would happen next. The start-up will continue to provide information on further steps.
Haede would like to thank all supporters for their time together. "Without all of you, Mapify would just be a travel company. You've turned it into a community whose friendships still exist even when travel came to a standstill."
Mapify was founded in 2016 by brothers Patrick and Sebastian Häde and Magnus Langanke. The start-up offered a platform on which users could get excited about travel destinations with the help of photos. The app then helped with travel planning and linked Airbnb and Skyscanner, for example, on the platform. Users could also book travel packages directly. Mapify recently had more than 250,000 members.
