Million dollar sum for jurassic fox

IBB Ventures and several business angels invest a seven-figure sum in Lernapp Jurafuchs. The Berlin-based start-up was apparently able to quintuple its sales last year.

Edtechs are one of the winners of the pandemic. So is the app Jurafuchs, which has been on the market since 2018 and helps students in law schools via microlearning. Now the Berlin-based start-up has been able to raise a seven-figure sum. The Berlin investment bank IBB Ventures and several business angels such as the partner of a major law firm, Stephanie Hundertmark, are involved: "The digital revolution in legal education is only just beginning and digital learning will soon be standard," Hundertmark tells Wirtschaftswoche.

Jurafuchs says it benefits most from learning at home, with sales increasing fivefold in 2020. The app has 140,000 users, according to its own data. In microlearning, the learning material is divided into small bites, a unit has a maximum of 280 characters. Jurafuchs also works with gamification to motivate students. The model for this concept was the language learning app Babbel, whose CTO Thomas Holl is involved in Jurafuchs as a strategic advisor.
