Mynaric appoints president

The laser communications company brings manager Mustafa Veziroglu into the management team. As President, he will assume responsibility for production.

The management team of the laser communication company Mynaric has been strengthened: laser communication manager Mustafa Veziroglu has been appointed President and member of the Management Board of the Munich-based start-up, which was founded in 2009 and has additional locations in Los Angeles and Washington D.C..

According to a company statement, Vezirolgu will assume operational responsibility for the development, qualification and series production of laser communication products and will be based in Munich. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of SA Photonics, a developer of laser communication systems.

Mynaric CEO Bulent Altan is delighted with the new appointment: "Mustafa Veziroglu has the perfect combination of in-depth industry knowledge and operational management experience," he says. He will be able to lead Mynaric's product portfolio through the next development phase, in which series production will be further expanded.

Mynaric was spun out of the German Aerospace Center in 2009 and specializes in laser communication. Lasers can be used to transmit data between satellites, enabling them to communicate with each other and with the earth.

The company has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2017 and on the US technology exchange Nasdaq since 2021. Investors include Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel and Tinder founder Justin Mateen.

Veziroglu is excited about his new role: "I have always been fascinated by the potential of laser communication to enable dense communication networks in space, in the air and in other areas for commercial and military applications."
