A new multi-family office was launched in Munich at the beginning of January 2026. With Schmidbauer Asset Consulting GmbH, Christian Baumanns and Alexander Komann founded an independent platform for asset management and strategic investment advice. Both founders previously worked at BV Bayerische Vermögen GmbH, which is part of the LAIQON Group.

Christian Baumanns was most recently a director there. By taking the step into self-employment, the founders are pursuing the goal of managing assets independently of corporate guidelines and implementing a modern family office approach.

Focus on wealthy private clients and entrepreneurial families

Schmidbauer Asset Consulting GmbH is aimed at wealthy private clients, entrepreneurial families and medium-sized companies, particularly in Bavaria. The focus is on long-term, individual asset management that goes beyond traditional capital investment.

In addition to asset investment, the service portfolio also includes strategic planning of large family assets, entrepreneurial sparring and cross-generational asset protection. The aim is to provide personal support at eye level with tailor-made solutions for complex asset structures.

Independent asset management with modern infrastructure

Operationally, the new Multi Family Office is linked to the INNO INVEST liability umbrella. The cooperation ensures the regulatory basis of asset management and at the same time provides access to a modern wealth management infrastructure.

The liability umbrella provides clients with connections to various custodian banks, including UBS Germany, DAB BNP Paribas and Munich-based V-Bank. The founders see this as an important prerequisite for legally compliant, flexible and future-oriented asset management.

Ambitious growth targets in Upper Bavaria

In the coming months, Christian Baumanns plans to build up assets under management of around 100 million euros. In the long term, Schmidbauer Asset Consulting GmbH aims to establish itself as the first port of call for discerning clients in Upper Bavaria.

According to the founders, wealthy families are increasingly turning away from standardized corporate solutions and are looking for independent partners with an entrepreneurial attitude and clear representation of interests.

Despite the founders' experience, Schmidbauer Asset Consulting GmbH is still in its infancy as a start-up and must first position itself in the highly competitive asset management market. In particular, the establishment of a reliable client base and the achievement of the targeted assets under management will show how viable the business model is in practice. It will also be decisive whether the company succeeds in differentiating itself from established multi-family offices and banks in the long term.
