The logistics tech company Pakajo has closed a Pre-Series A2 funding round with an investment volume of 1.2 million euros. The capital comes from Companisto’s business angel network, through which the company has secured funding for the second time. Pakajo plans to use the new capital to further develop its shipping platform, expand its sales operations, and open up additional international shipping routes. A key focus is on connections between the U.S. and Europe.

Platform for 250 Destinations

The company, based in Norderstedt near Hamburg, is developing a digital platform for package shipping by e-commerce retailers. Pakajo combines price comparison, shipping processing, label creation, customs procedures, tracking, and returns into a single interface. According to the company, this allows retailers to ship packages to more than 250 destinations worldwide.

According to Pakajo, more than 1,600 business customers have already shipped over 1.6 million packages via the platform. The company aims to reduce complexity and costs, particularly for cross-border shipping. To achieve this, Pakajo combines its own transport routes with those of national delivery partners. A proprietary customs engine handles parts of the customs clearance process.

Expansion Across the Atlantic

During the current funding round, Pakajo has already expanded its offerings to include several shipping products. These include an automated shipping solution for the German domestic market. For Switzerland, the company now offers a fully customs-cleared shipping service.

Another step is the establishment of a route in the opposite direction: Together with an existing partner in the U.S., Pakajo has handled shipments from the United States to Europe for the first time. The company views transatlantic connections in particular as an important growth market. For small and medium-sized online retailers, international shipping often involves higher costs and additional customs and procedural requirements.

Local carriers instead of a proprietary global network

Through its platform, Pakajo connects various local logistics companies and combines their networks with consolidated international shipments. This approach is designed to allow new countries and shipping routes to be integrated into the existing system with relative flexibility.

Investment manager Robin Gosh of Companisto sees this combination of local delivery networks, consolidated shipments, and proprietary customs technology as the company’s key differentiator. Consequently, Pakajo’s scalability depends largely on how efficiently additional local partners and international corridors can be integrated into the platform.

More AI for the Shipping Platform

Part of the 1.2 million euros will therefore be invested directly into further software development. In particular, Pakajo plans to automate more processes and expand its AI applications. At the same time, the customer dashboard will be better tailored to international requirements.

The 1.2 million euros now give us the opportunity to further accelerate this pace: more countries, more local shipping partners, and even more powerful technology.

Additional funds are earmarked for sales and the integration of additional local shipping providers.

Second Round via Companisto

This is already Pakajo’s second round of funding through Companisto’s business angel network. According to the investment platform, the network now includes more than 6,550 business angels. With this follow-on funding, Pakajo can now, above all, demonstrate the international scalability of its model.

With 1,600 business customers and 1.6 million packages processed, the company is already operational. The next step is to build a denser network out of individual international connections.

The new route between the U.S. and Europe is likely to be an important test in this regard. After all, if Pakajo wants to grow internationally, the company must demonstrate that its approach—combining consolidated shipments, local delivery partners, and proprietary customs technology—can be economically replicated across different markets.
