Speedinvest launches 60 million fund for marketplace start-ups

The fund is already the second of its kind. Since 2017, 100 million euros have already been invested.
The Viennese VC has launched a second fund for marketplace and consumer start-ups. In total, the early-stage investor was able to raise 60 million euros; the target was 50 million. The main backers of Speedinvest x Fund 2 are the Austrian media houses Styria and Russmedia. Other investors include founders of European start-ups Ankorstore, Vinted, Tradingview and Planetly, as well as Lieferando founder Jörg Gerbig.
Even before the final close, the fund has already invested four times, most recently in Turkish logistics startup Yolda, which received $1.9 million last month. "The themes we are focusing on in this fund are diverse and include everything from B2B to B2C marketplaces to sharing, subscription and circular economy models," fund manager Mathias Ockenfels told Trending Topics.
The first fund even produced a unicorn with Tier. Since 2017, Speedinvest has raised more than €100 million for marketplace and platform startups, half of which came from external investors.
