Seedcamp Raises $320 Million for New Funds
When discussing Europe’s most successful technology companies today, it’s hard to overlook Seedcamp. The London-based early-stage investor was among the first to back companies like Revolut, Wise, UiPath, Synthesia, and Fluidstack—long before they became billion-dollar companies.
Seedcamp has now announced the launch of new funds with a total volume of $320 million. The capital will be used to continue investing early in exceptional founding teams and to support them through multiple growth phases.
$220 million for the first investments
At the heart of the new fund structure is Fund VII, with $220 million in capital .
With this, Seedcamp remains true to its strategy of investing in promising founding teams as early as possible. The company describes itself as a “First Believer.” This means it is the first institutional investor to give exceptional entrepreneurs a chance before other investors recognize their potential.
The fund is complemented by a Select Fund with a volume of $100 million. This enables Seedcamp to support successful portfolio companies in later funding rounds as well, well beyond Series B.
Two Decades of European Startup History
The new funding round marks the next milestone in a nearly twenty-year journey. Since its founding, Seedcamp has been at the forefront of numerous technological disruptions, from the mobile revolution to fintech and cloud computing, all the way to the current AI boom.
While companies like Wise and Revolut emerged in the early years, Seedcamp is now increasingly investing in startups at the intersection of software, science, and the physical world. Recent investments include BioOrbit, Sunrise Robotics, and Dust, among others. For Seedcamp, one thing remains constant: the focus is not on the technology, but on the founders themselves.
Europe Should Produce Global Champions
With the new capital, Seedcamp also aims to provide stronger support to European startups as they enter the U.S. market. In parallel with the fund announcement, the investor is further expanding its presence in the United States. Through its New York office, portfolio companies will gain access to customers, talent, and investors—all of which are crucial for international scaling.
In times of increasing competition between European and American technology ecosystems, this aspect is gaining importance. While many European startups achieve technological leadership, they struggle to gain access to international markets and secure large rounds of funding.
Network as a Competitive Advantage
The investment team consists of just seven investors who work together on all portfolio investments. They are supported by a community of more than 1,200 founders, executives, and industry experts. Around 80 founders of successful Seedcamp portfolio companies are now reinvesting in the new fund themselves.
This creates a cycle that has a lasting impact on the European startup ecosystem. The founders who once benefited from the first Seedcamp investment are now helping to build the next generation of entrepreneurs.
A Sign for Europe’s Venture Capital Market
The new funds are launching at a time when the European venture capital landscape is once again showing significant signs of revitalization. While many investors have been more cautious in recent years, the fund’s size of $320 million demonstrates that confidence in European tech startups remains high.
Seedcamp is deliberately building on its proven track record of success: investing early, providing long-term support, and backing exceptional founders before the rest of the market takes notice of them. Given the success stories of Revolut, Wise, UiPath, and Synthesia, the industry is likely to be watching closely to see which companies emerge from Fund VII in the coming years.
