FINN Becomes a Unicorn
The German startup scene has another unicorn success to report: The Munich-based mobility company FINN has surpassed a billion-euro valuation as part of its current Series D funding round, officially joining the exclusive circle of unicorns.
At the same time, SevenVentures, the investment arm of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, is coming on board as a strategic growth partner. As part of a media-for-equity deal, SevenVentures will provide advertising services valued in the mid-double-digit millions and support FINN in further expanding its brand awareness.
100 Million Euros in Equity for the Next Growth Phase
The current funding round brings FINN just under 100 million euros in new equity. In addition, the company is receiving a further 40 million euros in debt financing from BC Partners Credit and Runway Growth Capital.
The round is led by Canadian investor Portage. With the completion of the financing, the company’s valuation rises to more than one billion euros. For FINN, this marks another milestone in a remarkable growth story that began as recently as 2019.
From Startup to Market Leader in Car Subscriptions
Within just a few years, FINN has become the leading provider of car subscriptions in Germany. The company takes an approach that replaces traditional car ownership with a flexible mobility model. Customers receive vehicles through digital subscription models with variable terms. Costs for insurance, taxes, maintenance, and repairs are already included in the monthly price.
FINN thus positions itself as an alternative to leasing and car ownership and benefits from a societal trend toward more flexible mobility models. This momentum is also reflected in the company’s financial results: FINN now generates annualized revenue of more than 300 million euros, making it one of the fastest-growing mobility companies in Europe.
SevenVentures Focuses on Brand Building
For SevenVentures, this investment is more than just a traditional financial stake. For years, the company has been using its “media-for-equity” model to support high-growth digital companies in building their brands. Instead of merely providing capital, the companies gain access to the ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s high-reach TV and digital channels.
Especially for consumer offerings that rely on trust and brand awareness, reach is often considered one of the key drivers of growth. The collaboration between FINN and SevenVentures is not new. The two companies have been working together as part of a media partnership since 2024. The investment announced now takes the collaboration to a new strategic level.
A Strong Signal for Germany as a Startup Hub
FINN’s unicorn status is also a positive signal for the German startup ecosystem. In an environment that has been characterized in recent years by cautious funding rounds and challenging market conditions, the current round demonstrates that scalable business models can continue to generate significant investor demand.
Particularly noteworthy is the combination of venture capital, debt financing, and strategic media capital. It underscores that modern growth financing increasingly consists of multiple components and goes far beyond traditional equity rounds.
Europe’s Mobility Platform as the Next Goal
For founder and CEO Maximilian Wühr, the current round is above all another step toward a larger vision. The company aims to establish itself in the long term as the leading platform for modern mobility in Europe.
The new funding is intended to help further expand brand awareness, tap into new customer groups, and drive expansion across Europe.
With a valuation of more than one billion euros, revenue in the hundreds of millions, and a strong consortium of investors behind it, FINN is now embarking on the next chapter of its corporate development—this time as an official unicorn.
