The Swiss agricultural company Walnut Planet has successfully completed its latest crowdfunding round. A total of more than 173,555 Swiss francs will be injected into the company. The capital comes from 55 investors and will primarily be used to further expand the walnut plantations in Serbia.

4,000 New Walnut Trees Planned

With the fresh capital, Walnut Planet plans to plant an additional 4,000 walnut trees, thereby advancing the planting of its 25-hectare site. At the same time, the company aims to expand its infrastructure and lay the groundwork for its first harvest, scheduled to begin in 2028.

The focus is on the Chandler walnut variety. It is characterized, among other things, by its uniform size and light-colored kernels and is in high demand, particularly in the premium and food markets.

In the long term, Walnut Planet is pursuing an ambitious goal: According to the company, it aims to establish the largest platform for Chandler walnuts in Europe.

Swiss Company Focuses on Cultivation in Serbia

Walnut Planet is headquartered in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, in the canton of Schwyz, but its agricultural land is located in Serbia. There, the company develops and operates large-scale walnut plantations.

The business model combines agriculture with an investment model for private individuals. Through a lease model, investors can participate in the agricultural project over the long term. According to the company, more than 200 leaseholders are already using this model.

Unlike traditional startup investments, the focus here is on a physical asset: the plantations and the walnut trees growing on them.

Crowdinvesting Funds Further Growth

The recently completed financing round was conducted through the Swiss crowdinvesting platform CONDA.ch. With 55 investors and a total volume of more than 173,555 Swiss francs, Walnut Planet is securing additional capital for the phase in which significant initial investments are required before the plantations can generate corresponding returns.

The planned start of harvesting in 2028 in particular makes it clear that the business model is designed for the long term. Until then, the focus will be on establishing the plantations, tending the trees, and building the necessary infrastructure.

With the addition of 4,000 trees, Walnut Planet is now one step closer to its goal of a fully planted 25-hectare area.
