Investment signal for the green tech sector: renowned institutions such as EIF and Bpifrance participate in World Fund to support European start-ups

Berlin, March 22, 2024 - European climate tech investor, World Fund, has successfully closed its first fund of 300 million euros. This amount represents a record for a first fund and will help address the challenges of Series B financing in Europe. Investors include the European Investment Fund (EIF), KfW Capital, Bpifrance, PwC Germany, Wiltshire Pension Fund, the UK Environment Agency Pension Fund (EAPF), the Croatian fund Erste Plavi and the search engine Ecosia.

Venture capital for up to 30 start-ups

The fund intends to invest in 20 to 30 European start-ups that have an impact on decarbonization. The aim of the World Fund is to support European startups during the Series B funding rounds, when many companies are struggling. This is seen as a positive sign for the green tech sector in Europe, especially given the current challenges in the venture capital crisis.

Danijel Višević, General Partner and co-founder of the World Fund, emphasizes the importance of investment for successful and climate-friendly developments and hopes for an increase in investment in climate tech startups overall.

The World Fund was founded in 2021 and has offices in several European cities. The involvement of renowned institutions such as the European Investment Bank (EIF) reflects the increasing interest in climate tech and could have a positive impact on European startups. The launch of this fund is a step forward for climate tech in Europe, but should be viewed in a neutral context without raising exaggerated expectations.
