August Digital receives 10 million US dollars

August Digital closes a Series A financing round and plans to expand its on-chain prime brokerage services. Another step towards the integration of DeFi and CeFi.
Geneva, March 11, 2025 - Crypto startup August Digital has closed a USD 10 million Series A funding round. The investment, led by Dragonfly Ventures, will support August in the further development of its on-chain prime brokerage services. Other investors include SCB Limited, 6th Man Ventures (6MV), Foresight Ventures, FinTech Collective, Robot Ventures and Maven11.
Expansion of institutional financial products
With the new capital injection, August plans to expand its financial infrastructure for institutional clients. A key element is a portfolio margining system that enables the use of staked assets and income-generating positions as collateral for structured products, OTC derivatives and loans. Through cross-margining and improved capital efficiency, customers should be able to better hedge their DeFi portfolios and use CeFi connections at the same time.
Developments in recent years have shown that liquidity and trading volumes are increasingly being shifted to the blockchain. Transparency and risk management are key factors here.
Aya Kantorovich, Co-Founder and Co-Managing Director of August Digital
August currently supports more than 12 blockchains, over 250 tokens and 70 protocols, allowing the company to further optimize access to liquid assets. The platform facilitates trading, lending and risk management for institutional investors.
Growth despite challenging market conditions
Despite the volatile crypto markets and the crises in the centralized finance (CeFi) sector, August was able to achieve a transaction volume of more than USD 7 billion per month. In addition, loans worth over 400 million US dollars were granted last year. With its new strategic direction, August aims to further improve transparency and risk management in the sector.
August is setting new standards for institutional trading in digital assets by integrating trust directly into the infrastructure.

Partnerships with institutional investors
The funding underscores the continued interest of institutional investors in crypto assets. Rob Hadick, General Partner at Dragonfly Capital, emphasizes that it was not the lack of interest in digital assets that was responsible for the collapse of companies such as FTX or 3AC, but the opaque risk structures. August therefore offers real-time risk measurement and programmatic collateral management to minimize default risks.
Carl Vogel, General Partner at 6th Man Ventures, sees August as a market leader in on-chain capital markets: "August combines the benefits of DeFi with the risk management tools that institutional investors need. Through the partnership with August, retail users now also have access to these financial instruments."
Future plans and market development
With the new funding, August plans to further expand its infrastructure and attract new institutional clients. The platform already offers a wide range of on-chain financial tools, including multi-signature smart contract accounts, trade execution, lending, structured products and cross-margining. The focus is also on developing new cross-chain DeFi strategies.
Through these innovations, August aims to further strengthen the bridge between decentralized (DeFi) and traditional financial markets. With the increasing tokenization of assets, the company is positioning itself as a central interface for digital capital markets. It will be exciting to see how the start-up develops in the current volatile market environment.
